Design development of proposed 122,700 sq ft warehouse project accommodating both manufacturing, storage and distribution use classes.

What we did

Civil Engineering

Provided comprehensive design development from pre-tendering stage to commencement of construction, including hot and cold rolled structural steel, concrete slab and precast elements.

Post tendering process, we were novated to continue work, by developing a 6m high in-situ concrete retaining wall, spanning 175m, supporting the ground beneath the building. Detailed analysis, considering construction pour sequence and joint detailing, ensured crack sizes were within limits for Water tightness Class 1 designation, preventing excess moisture ingress into adjacent office space.

Adding Value

Using Revit meant that any agreed alterations to the reinforcement arrangement could be made with greater simplicity.

Significant below-ground obstructions were discovered. We proposed a preparation method involving excavation, obstruction removal and the use of site-won material, supported by lime- stabilisation for adequate ground bearing capacity. This enabled the avoidance of vibro piling, minimizing disposal material.

Use of site-won material reduced the amount of material to be disposed off site.

“The project is targeting a BREEAM “Excellent” Rating, alongside an intention to achieve an operational Carbon Neutral standard.”
