This attractive village development will feature almost 500 homes along with commercial properties, shops and cafes. The site is an old quarry with significant challenges including contamination, steep topography and planning constraints.
Appointed post-planning approval, we carried out a detailed review of the planning documents to develop a rigorous levels, earthwork and drainage strategy, along with a feasibility study to determine access. Rodgers Leask also acted as Principal Designer for site reclamation and building projects.
Tendered and project managed the Phase 1 Site Remediation including demolition and earthworks to form the development plateau. Designed vibro-treatment ground improvement for buildings and geotextile anchors for the slopes to help create the required stability for the site’s plateau.
Working with key stakeholders we made innovative use of the existing ecologically valuable watercourse to collect surface water, minimising the need for pipe works, river outfall and earthworks. This saved the client significant time and money.
