Behind the scenes

Five new faces joined us during the first quarter. Senior engineer Arron Tullett and principal engineer Nick Spear arrived in Longbridge, principal engineer Shmuel Shruki started in Nottingham and receptionist Amelia Daly touched down in Derby. Meanwhile, Dave Bathurst started his tenure as regional director, heading up our Bristol office.

Dave has joined us to lead the civil engineering team in the region and will be using his extensive international track record of working in different disciplines, sectors and countries to increase our presence in the South West.

Managing director Paul Spencer said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Dave to the business and begin a new era in the South West. Dave’s experience speaks for itself and is perfectly suited to guide the growth of a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy like Rodgers Leask. It’s an exciting announcement to begin the year with and we look forward to providing updates on the direction in which Dave takes the Bristol-based team.”

In support of our commitment to employee engagement, we targeted silver accreditation from Investors in People in 2023. The review has since been completed and we have achieved our goal! This achievement is a result of our belief in continued professional development, workplace flexibility and employer responsibility.

Industry insights

Amid changing legislation on the implementation and governance of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), technical director Mark Bellringer and regional director Dave Bathurst have been supporting clients with all they need to know about the topic. From key principles to practical advice, the presentation offered by the experienced duo has received great feedback.

The Institution of Structural Engineers East Midlands Regional Group Awards took place in February and we were extremely proud to take home the award for ‘Best Renovation or Heritage Project’ following our work on The Market Hall renovation in Derby!

It’s a fantastic achievement and the whole project team has played a role in the success.
