West Longbridge Gathers Momentum

13.04.22

Following the recent planning success for a new neighbourhood of 350 residential homes at the West Longbridge development, O’Brien Contractors Limited have undertaken a photographic drone survey to capture the latest site infrastructure progress completed to date. Currently on site completing the earthworks, ACS Construction Group have undertaken the bulk earthworks and remediation across the winter months, continuing great progress for the site.

The West Longbridge redevelopment is being delivered by St Modwen and is due to create up to 5,000 new jobs on the 75 acre mixed use development which will deliver 350 residential dwellings along with over 1,000,000 sq.ft of commercial floor space. The development will also deliver 27 acres of new public realm space centred around the newly restored River Rea.

Rodgers Leask has had an involvement with the scheme for many years, initially assisting with the options appraisal process and undertaking Land Contamination Assessment of the former MG Rover West Works site, focusing on delivering a sustainable development in the form of a vibrant new community.

Plot visualizations for the proposed earthworks were produced using Surfer software, to help provide the Client team with a vision of the completed plateauing works.

Our Geo-environmental team has produced earthworks and remediation specifications along with overseeing the site enabling works, remediation of contamination, materials management to minimise waste and undertaking verification.

Civil Engineering input has included the design of the spine road and drainage infrastructure to facilitate the site wide development of West Longbridge.

We are extremely lucky to have an office only a short walk from the site, which means we can keep a daily track of progress on this fantastic, nationally important regeneration project.
