International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

16.09.21

Today is the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

A united global effort to phase out ozone depleting substances means that today the ozone layer is healing.

At Rodgers Leask we strive to reduce our carbon footprint as efficiently as possible. One way in which we deliver this on our projects is to encourage the reuse of soils on development sites, often using innovative solutions and techniques.

This has a huge impact on the number of miles travelled by lorries, both in taking material to landfill (as would have historically happened) and importing replacement fill.

Not only does this reduce the direct carbon footprint of the project, it also reduces emissions that include nitrous oxides, which are now one of the most harmful compounds damaging the ozone layer.

All Soils are screened for suitability for re-use under a Materials Management plan, alongside the site’s Remediation Strategy.
