Littlecombe
Dursley, Gloucestershire
We were appointed as lead consulting engineer for this former heavy engineering works site, which is being transformed into a sustainable development for more than 600 homes.
Civil engineering
Enabling works, reclamation and ecological enhancement, along with designs for new bridges across a de-culverted river. The complex level changes throughout the site required carefully planned earthworks to provide a viable platform for the housing while taking into consideration the new river system.
Transport planning
A planned new road network, taking into account the site gradients and management of congestion in the nearby old town.
Geo-environmental
The development is being sensitively designed to meld with the existing town, and so our infrastructure designs took this into account. Importantly, we were able to reclaim and reuse much of the existing site material, saving time and money, while reducing the project’s environmental impact. Our innovative design connecting the fabric of old and new helped the project win a Best Brownfield Infrastructure award.
