Development of link road between car parks and ensured safe access for buses.
Included early-stage design options, constraints planning and coordination with the client and architect to deliver a cost-effective solution.
What we did
Civil Engineering
As part of the Civils output, we provided initial options for a link road option between the northern and southern car parks to the client to aid their decision making process. A constraints plan was
also produced at this stage to show the existing services in the vicinity of the works to advise the client of any diversions that would be required depending on the final decision of the preferred layout. Once a decision was made on the layout, we then produced surfacing, kerbing and road marking layout plans and construction details to be put forward for approval from the overseeing authority in line with their
standards.
Transport Planning Involvement
Vehicle tracking was provided to show that the proposed location of the bus stop, and layout of the car park, would provide safe access and egress for buses.
Adding Value
Helped VE the proposed layout as much as possible by liaising with the architect and client throughout to hit a very tight budget.
Collaborative value engineering process, enabled the delivery of a functional and compliant design while staying within budge constraints.
