Flood risk and drainage expertise, securing consent for an 85-home scheme, turning public objections into planning approval.
What we did
Civil Engineering
Rodgers Leask was appointed mid-way through the planning appeal for an 85-unit residential development to take over flood risk and drainage duties. They prepared the ‘Flood Risk & Drainage’ proof of evidence and worked with ecologists FPCR due to the sensitive watercourse at the nearby Fox Glen Local Wildlife Site. Supporting documents included a ‘Statement of Common Ground’, a draft ‘Construction Environmental Management Plan’, and options for SuDS features to address site constraints. Public objections on flood risk and drainage were resolved through the evidence provided, leading to a successful appeal and planning permission.
Delivering Sustainability
Rodgers Leask worked closely with ecologist FPCR and lead local flood authority Sheffield City Council to develop a SuDS strategy and outfall proposal which would ensure runoff from the site would be appropriately treated prior to discharge through Fox Glen into the nearby watercourse Clough Dyke.
Adding Value
We had to quickly get up to speed on the historic planning application documents to ensure that the proof of evidence was cognisant of other constraints and technical challenges associated with the site.
“Kriston is a safe pair of hands on drainage & flood risk. He is experienced & confident in his soloutions, all of which allows him to present a calm professional manner”.
