Combining the Old and the New – Rodgers Leask Uses State of the Art Drone Technology to Survey Listed Building Roof Structure
07.06.18
Rodgers Leask was recently appointed by Speller Metcalfe, the contractor for the £16m renovation and refurbishment of the Silk Mill museum, Derby – an ancient mill building and UNESCO heritage site – to conduct a drone survey of the structure’s roofs and roofline.
The mill’s proximity to the River Derwent and its many rooflines, most of which are not accessible enabled Rodgers Leask to use drone technology to bring state of the art technology to the project. The entire roof area was surveyed for the architects to gather information on the roofs for the refurbishment and to assess their condition.
